The Department of Education (DepED) said yesterday that it is thoroughly investigating the complaint of a child who was allegedly forced to eat a cockroach by a teacher who was caught molesting a girl in the restroom.
“DepEd ensures that the ongoing investigation is being handled swiftly and fairly,” the department said in a press release.
“A simultaneous inquiry regarding the alleged molestation is being conducted with the end view that all learners involved are protected and assisted,” the department added.
According to police records, the teacher was immediately arrested on December 12; however, he posted bail and was released three days later.
DepED said that its Manila Field Office continues to take steps to assist the students involved, including providing psychosocial support, closely monitoring their overall well-being, and adjusting class schedules. I via The Pipelines Integrated News
