Due to continuous rainfall and flooding in some areas, Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez has announced this afternoon, through an executive order to be released shortly, the cancellation of classes at all levels—both public and private—tomorrow, January 5, 2025.
Under the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010 (RA 10121), Executive Order (EO) No. 66 (2012), and as enshrined in the Local Government Code of 1991, local chief executives are empowered to undertake proactive measures, such as the suspension of classes, to minimize the effects of disasters, including heavy rains and typhoons.
