Ricky Sabino, the newly appointed guidance counselor of Kananga National High School (KNHS), reminded teachers this afternoon, December 17, 2025, about the rights of students.
“The law protects the students so we should be very careful,” said Sabino.
“Even sending chat because students can easily take a screenshot and can send them to their GCs,” he added.
Sabino also stressed the importance of having a unified and standard approach in handling students’ issues and complaints.
“Hindi po dapat mag-iyahay ra ug policies, roles with regard sa discipline (We should not create our own individual policies, roles regarding discipline),” he noted.
Aside from reminding teachers to keep KNHS a safe place for students, Sabino also underscored the importance of privacy for both students and teachers in whatever issues they are facing.
“Kung ano man po ang nagawa ng bata, bawal po i-post sa social media, even if no name. (Whatever a child may have done, it is prohibited to post it on social media, even if no name),” Sabino said.
Sabino also told teachers that a school discipline committee will soon be created that will professionally handle issues and concerns.
According to Sabino, he will submit the enhanced school guidance program to the Leyte Division Office for approval soon.
In closing, Sabino is optimistic that the new guidance counseling program of KNHS will become efficient and effective as long as everyone cooperates.
