The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) Number 1 over six areas in the Visayas and Mindanao due to Tropical Depression Ada.
In its Wednesday, 11 a.m. advisory, the state weather bureau said the following areas are under TCWS No. 1:
Visayas
• Northern Samar
• Samar
• Eastern Samar
Mindanao
• Dinagat Islands
• Surigao del Norte
• Surigao del Sur
PAGASA warned residents of the affected areas to be alert for possible strong winds from 39 to 61 kilometers per hour (km/h).
PAGASA said that Tropical Depression Ada entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 8 a.m. this morning.
Based on the latest available data, PAGASA estimated the location of the tropical cyclone at 635 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, and it is moving northwestward at 35 km/h, with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 55 km/h, and a central pressure of 1004 hPa.
